1st Day at Microsoft Silverlight Training

Around 8:30 AM , I’m ready to rempit all the way to Amcorp Mall . From Klang to PJ , it takes bout 45 minutes (since I cant speed up more than 100 KM/h) ..

Arrive at Info Trek around 9 :10 . The place is actually beside McDonald . Info Trek is actually a company that provides training and certs for Microsoft products ..  I think I’m the only one who came from Sifoo forum .. Other students is mostly from IT professionals and their age is somewhere between 25 – 35 . So that makes me the youngest one ..

I still dunno why i have passion in these things .. skipping 3 days class for just this computer stuff .. Actually , I quite sad by the fact that this training is focus on designer and they will be another class that focus on programmer (heck i dont even know C# and VB is the 1st programming language that I learn when i was 16 so I barely remember what its all about ) . and the class will be held like end of this month and I dunno if I can manage to skip class again ….

My senior (ex senior) that is currently still doing jobhunting came by .. So .. its only 2 sifoorian .. other students that I know is from a big company , got LHDN some more .. ..Beside me is 2 chinese lady … staff from MMU Cyberjaya ..

What I learn is Silverlight is for RIA (Rich internet apps) .. you can say its like flash apps ..but its from Microsoft .. Silverlight is subset of WPF .. so XAML (extensible app markup language) in silverlight can work in WPF BUT XAML in WPF its not fully supported in Silverlight . So .. basically , WPF can be created by using XAML for stand alone projects and Silverlight for web apps .

Slverlight have 1.0 and 1.1 Version (alpha stage) . I read at someone blogs from Microsoft MSDN that its already call 1.1 version as 2.0 .. Want to confirm this with Rohant . Silverlight 1.0 can be use (or actually .. MUST USE) javascript while 1.1 can be use in .Net environment . So its makes developer as well to designer a whole lot easier .

so .. you all can try the silverlight apps , make sure you are installing the web browser plugin . Just head to Silverlight site and install those plugins to enjoy silverlight .

  1. I have been blogging for since january 2009 and had to learn

a lot of things through trial and error. I am currently

reading to your training blog and finding it to be very informative.

For anyone that is thinking of starting a training blog I highly recommend this is a good one.

  2. Hey, I came across this blog article while searching for help with fixing Microsoft Silverlight. I’ve recently switched browsers from Opera to Microsoft Internet Explorer 5. Just recently I seem to have a issue with loading websites that have Microsoft Silverlight. Everytime I browse site that needs Microsoft Silverlight, the page freezes and I get a “npctrl.dll” error. I can’t seem to find out how to fix it. Any help getting Microsoft Silverlight to work is very appreciated! Thanks
